Tottenham Lead The Race For In-Demand Bilbao Youth Product
Tottenham Hotspur lead the race to sign Athletic Bilbao’s latest product, Gorka Guruzeta, amid interest from Arsenal and Manchester United.
Guruzeta made his debut back in 2015, and has registered 13 goals in 51 appearances so far. The youngster managed to impress the La Liga audience soon after his debut for the Spanish side, and has thus, attracted interest from big names in Europe.
Meanwhile, United u23s faced Bilbao last week, and the game reportedly had scouts from multiple clubs monitoring the Spaniard’s performance and activity.
However, according to Sport, Spurs are currently considered favourites to sign the young prospect, despite the reported involvement from the Gunners and the Old Trafford outfit.
Though Tottenham hardly lack talented strikers at present, importing a growing talent could prove to be a vital asset for them in the future. Further, it was also reported that boss Mauricio Pochettino is keenly observing the towering forward.
On the other hand, the 21-year looks set to run down his contract by the end of this season, opening up the opportunity for interested parties to attempt a free swoop for him.
Clubs will likely have to pay a development fee due to his age, but otherwise, the promising striker would be worth around £20 million in today’s transfer market.
