Stunningly, Antoine Griezmann could’ve ended up in the Arsenal squad four years ago, but a collapsed deal back in 2013 ruled out his move to the Emirates forever.

It was when he was at Real Sociedad that the Gunners shifted their focus on to the French forward. The 26-year-old’s agent maintained potential transfer talks with Arsenal scout Gilles Grimandi.

Purportedly, the English club was truly interested in the decorated figure’s signature, and had expressed their desire enough to get it through to the player.

When the France international came to know about the Gunners’ interest, he put aside all other proposals, expecting an offer from the North London club. However, an offer was never tabled, and accordingly, no transfer materialised.

In his biography, the Atletico man revealed: “I waited, I waited, and I kept waiting … when there was no news, Eric called Grimandi, who said that the manager was still interested in me [and] to keep waiting.

“Finally a few hours before the market closed, he let us know Arsenal would not make a move. I don’t like to be told something and for it not to happen. So when Eric told me later that the London club were interested again I told him ‘Forget it, after the blow they gave us.'”

The Atletico fan-favourite, who’s capable of fabricating exquisite plays up front, could’ve bolstered Arsenal’s offence to an inexplicable extent.

Nevertheless, at present, the supporters can’t snub the likelihood of Griezmann joining their arch-rivals Manchester United, which could get accounted for another blow to the North London club.
