Manchester United Star Fears The Club Is Planning To Sell Him
Extending contracts is proving to be of paramount importance for clubs in the modern game.
With transfer prices rising to shocking numbers, most players prefer to see the entirety of their contract through, and then choose their next destination as a free agent.
But Manchester United seem to have found a way around that by activating one-year extension clauses in the contracts of those players whose futures they still aren’t certain about.

As per Times, Daley Blind fears that his career with Manchester United is in its final days, despite the club working to trigger the extension that will keep him penned with the club till 2019.
To be fair, his fears aren’t all too wrong, as the extension is not by virtue of having the player for a long-term, but just to ensure that no negotiations are done with other sides in January, and through that, try and redeem some of their initial investment in the Dutchman.
Having been purchased by Louis Van Gaal in 2014, the then £14 million transfer brought in a player that was crucial to the defensive midfield aspects of the club. In the years since, the 27-year-old has been deployed in various spots across the backline in an effort to secure it.

But the brilliant form of Ashley Young at left-back in the recent games has ensured that Blind is all but ignored by Mourinho, despite enjoying a fairly decent run of games in the Champions League.
However, just like in the case of other players whose extension clauses have been activated, Blind can still be purchased in the summer, and so, it will be interesting to see what the future holds for the Holland international.
