The Premier League table is a fine example of the sheer brilliance of the English game.

Despite boasting of the League’s best defensive record and netting in the most impressive performances in several seasons, Man Utd still trail by eight points to rivals Man City, who are chomping and tearing their way through to greatness.

With the giants set to lock horns on Sunday, supporters will also be reminded of the looming transfer window in January, and the decisions that both managers make during the period will be just as crucial as the performances of the players during the derby.

And now, according to Yahoo Sport, Mourinho will be looking to make three vital signings to better his squad, and bring in a left-back, a winger, and a central midfielder.

The report named the budget at hand to be in the range of £80 million. All of it will be spent with the prime intention of beating City to the trophy. However, should defeat be the result on Sunday, the already uphill task will certainly take on a Herculean tint.

The report also added that Mourinho is significantly worried about City as well, and not just for their position and goals either. The fact that the Sky Blues will look to spend and invest in the window as well is a daunting one for the Portuguese boss to digest.

Pep Guardiola is believed to be interested in ensuring that Alexis Sanchez, who he missed out on a move late in the summer window owing to Arsenal’s follies, will join their ranks and aid them fully in the title challenge.

As of such, Mourinho must choose his new signings wisely, and make a full effort in ensuring no stone remains unturned in the battle to topple City off their perch, one that looks to be swiftly cementing.
