Steven Gerrard Names The United Player That No Defender In The World Would Want To Face
A Liverpool faithful talking positively about a United player is a rare occurrence, but Marcus Rashford has impressed former Reds’ veteran Steven Gerrard to such an extent that he has “hailed” the young lad from Old Trafford.
Rashford has become one of the hottest properties in England, and has also made a name for himself on the European stage following some blistering performances for the Red Devils.
The latest one came in United’s 2-1 home win against CSKA Moscow in their final Group Stage match of the Champions League.
His left-footed strike earned the Premier League giants the top spot in Group A, as they now prepare to take on rivals and league leaders Man City this weekend. And the whiz-kid could showcase his talent, which ex-Liverpool star, Steven Gerrard, has hailed, in the Manchester Derby.
While talking with BT Sport on Tuesday night about whether the forward would be an important player for England in Russia, the former England captain said: “Oh yeah definitely. I love how direct he is.
“When he smells blood he just goes right at defenders and with that pace he plays to his strengths. If you’re a defender in that position he’s one player you don’t want to come up against, especially when he gets you in a wide area in a one v one, he can absolutely destroy you.”
This isn’t the first time a veteran has applauded the 20-year-old, as earlier, Rio Ferdinand also raved about Rashford for his maturity. Though he also pointed out how the Englishman need to improve in the finishing department in order to raise his game.
