Cristiano Ronaldo has dazzled his supporters yet again, as he lifted his fifth Ballon d’Or this year, surpassing fellow contenders Lionel Messi and Neymar.

The Real Madrid talisman has led the Spanish club to great success in the recent seasons. The decorated forward acquired his side’s first La Liga title in five years with the club, and furthermore, they then became club world champions, and the first team to defend the Champions League title.

The previous year, he beat Messi to the very same honour and also FIFA’s new The Best award, owing to the fact that he assisted Los Blancos to obtain the Champions League trophy, and Portugal to win the European Championships in France.

Ronaldo seized his second consecutive The Best prize, beating off opposition from Messi and his former Barcelona teammate Neymar, during a ceremony in London, where the FIFA awards in October were announced.

The celebrated forward was just starting to rise to distinction a decade ago, as he achieved his first Premier League title with Manchester United, savoring one of his most productive seasons to date with the Old Trafford outfit.

He scored 23 goals during that campaign, which saw Sir Alex Ferguson’s men also reach the FA Cup final and Champions League semi-finals, and the Portuguese finished second in that year’s Ballon d’Or voting. Nonetheless, grabbing the silver medal didn’t deplete the instrumental figure’s confidence even a bit.

During the event in Manchester, Ronaldo, flanked by then teammates Rio Ferdinand and Anderson, was approached by Soccer AM’s Tubes, who asked the United trio who they believed to the be the Greatest Player Of All Time.

Indubitably and expectedly, the glorious figure had only one answer:

The Portugal international had claimed himself to be the very best footballer even back then, and there’s no argument over the data which suggests that he’s done no harm to his claim.

It’s hard to believe he has bagged five Ballon d’Or awards either, but he still believes he is young enough to win a few more.
