Scottish Premiership Champions Celtic have accepted Brighton and Hove Albion’s latest £18 million bid for their star striker, Moussa Dembele, according to reports.

Sky Sports’ Kaveh Solhekol broke the news today via his twitter account, as he tweeted: “Breaking… Celtic accept bid from Brighton for striker Moussa Dembélé. Two clubs have reached agreement on transfer fee of £18 million.”

The 21-year-old forward completed his move to Celtic last summer from Fulham on a free transfer, and since then, he has played a pivotal role for Brendan Rodgers’ side.

Dembele was one of the most crucial players for the former Liverpool boss last season, in which the Bhoys completed a clean sweep of domestic trophies, and went unbeaten through the entire campaign.

However, his form has somewhat taken a toll this year, mainly due to injury problems, but the Frenchman, who was linked with Chelsea and United last summer, still remains one of the hottest stars in Europe, with the likes of AC Milan and Marseille also keen to land the striker.

And even though Celtic have accepted the £18 million bid from the Seagulls, it remains to be seen whether the 21-year-old agrees personal terms with Brighton.

Furthermore, with a price tag now put in place, more admirers of the French star could emerge in a bid to steal a match in the pursuit for his services.

Premier League clubs West Ham United and Everton too, are vying to make a swoop for Dembele, who has failed to cement his position in the starting line-up at Celtic Park this season.

Meanwhile, if Brighton do end up bringing him to Falmer Stadium, the starlet would set a new transfer record for the Seagulls. The highest transfer fee paid by the English side is of £13.5 million, which they coughed up to Club Brugge for Jose Izquierdo last year.
