Sao Paulo, who were in pursuit of Lucas Moura, have decided to end the chase, with reports in Brazil claiming the winger is only contracting with United if he were to leave his current side Paris Saint Germain.

In view of the advent of Kylian Mbappe and Neymar, the 25-year-old lost his place at the French capital, hardly making any appearance for the Parisians. Accordingly, he was notified that he was free to leave in the winter transfer window.

The talented midfielder recently snubbed an offer to work for Nantes and stay in France. Purportedly, he believes moving to any other French sides would be a retrograde step.

The Brazil international is, hence, looking for greener pastures, as he covets to get as much game-time as possible in the hopes of getting elected for this summer’s World Cup.

Accordingly, the Ligue 1 giants reported recently that he’s only acknowledging a move to the Old Trafford outfit.

However, according to latest reports, it is said that the Red Devils are only interested in taking the player on loan, although Unai Emery wishes to offload him permanently.

Disregarding the reports from Le Parisien this week, which declared PSG aim to earn €40m for the Brazilian, Globo Esporte have affirmed that the deal could happen for just €25m (£22m, $30m).

Following the overwhelming performances PSG showcased in the summer window, spending £202m on Neymar and being obliged to spend £166m for Mbappe next summer, the club faces the likelihood of UEFA sanctions.

They must muster up at least €75m by the end of this year’s campaign to meet the Financial Fair Play targets. Hence, they expect to milk the most out of Lucas, with the conceivable Old Trafford move.

That being said, it’s uncertain as to whether the celebrated figure would get better match time at Old Trafford than he has been at Parc des Princes, in view of the fact that the player is likely to be rusty after having spent a majority of the season on the sidelines.
