Retiring from a sport after devoting decades worth of hard work and time put into it can be very, very hard, especially when you’ve been the absolute best in the history of it. That is exactly what Usain Bolt is going through, and he has decided to cope with it through football.

The World Record holder has admitted his intense admiration for United in the past, and is a fan of the beautiful sport.

So much that Bolt now aspires to become a footballer, and has even secured a trial with German giants Borussia Dortmund. The trial is felicitated by sportswear Puma, who sponsor both the Jamaican and Dortmund.

“In March we’re going to do a trials with Dortmund and that will determine what I do with that career, which way it goes. If they say I’m good, and that I need a bit of training, I’ll do it,” the towering sprinter told Express Sport.

However, as a Red Devils supporter, the fastest man on Earth obviously wanted to play at Old Trafford, and was even assured a chance by Sir Alex Ferguson back then.

“One of my biggest dreams is to sign for Manchester United. If Dortmund say I’m good enough, I’ll crack on and train hard,” the Olympic gold medalist added.

“I’ve spoken to Alex Ferguson and I told him he needs to put in a good word. He told me if I get fit
and ready, he will see what he can do.”

Though United boss Jose Mourinho may not completely fancy the idea of signing an inexperienced athlete as much as the Scot, the Old Trafford crowd is sure to find it amusing.

Have had two addictions in life- playing football and watching football. Usually described as introverted but not when it comes to speaking and writing about the beautiful game of football.
