Sergio Aguero In Line For A Shock Return To Former Club

Sergio Aguero is being speculated with a return to former club Atletico Madrid, thanks to his current manager, Pep Guardiola, monitoring Antoine Griezmann’s situation.

Aguero joined City from the Spanish giants back in 2011 in a stunning £38m deal, and since then, he has gone on to become a major player for the club.

The Argentine has scored 192 goals in 281 appearances for the club, and he recently helped the side beat Newcastle United with a clinical hat-trick in the Premier League.

Atletico Madrid, who recently signed former player Diego Costa from Chelsea, are believed to be seeking an opportunity to get Aguero back as well.

According to a report in The Sun, Atletico have contacted the player’s representatives, as they are eyeing to link Aguero with Costa upfront, especially with Griezmann’s future hanging in the air.

Griezmann is expected to leave Diego Simeone’s side in the summer, with several top European clubs interested in signing the Frenchman.

Pep is a huge admirer of the player, and wants to sign him by activating his release clause, which will be around £85m in the summer. And although he shares a great rapport with Aguero, the club’s record goal-scorer could still make way for Griez.

The report also added: “Atletico have contacted Sergio’s representatives to see if there is any chance of getting him back. Pep doesn’t want him to go, but has been looking at bringing in Antoine Griezmann, so there could be something there.”

The Argentine has been very successful at City, and is on the verge of winning his third Premier League honour. But if a return to Spain is on the cards, he would surely be tempted to head back to his former club, where he was loved a lot, just like he is by the Sky Blues.
