European champions Real Madrid are reportedly seeking to do away with talisman Cristiano Ronaldo in the summer, and are willing to offer the Portuguese to his former club United.

Zinedine Zidane’s side has got off to a terrible start in La Liga, which is why Los Blancos have all but submitted the Spanish league title to rivals Barcelona. Real instead fight for a top four finish, and the Frenchman wants some big names to arrive in the summer.

The European champions did not enter the market in January, but are believed to rake in the cash for their principle targets, which include David de Gea.

Madrid have been touted to come for De Gea, who is their prime target for the goalkeeping option. Besides the Spaniard, they are also interested in Chelsea’s Eden Hazard – a player expected to replace Ronaldo as the main man at the Bernabeu.

According to a report in Spanish outlet El Confidencial, Los Blancos are desperate to get the former Atletico Madrid player, and in return, are open to use five-time Ballon d’Or winner Ronaldo.

The FIFA Men’s Player Of the Year has been linked with an exit from the Spanish capital at the end of the season, having reportedly grown disillusioned with life at the La Liga outfit.

United manager Jose Mourinho was recently asked regarding the prospect of signing Ronaldo, and he played down the links, saying only Real and their boss, Zinedine Zidane, can have him.

Moreover, De Gea is also said to be happy at United, as the club management is said to be working on a new contract.

However, an earlier report in Don Balon did claim that the talented shot-stopper could go on to reject a new offer, and force his way through to the Bernabeu, especially with his current deal ending in 2019.
