Marcos Rojo has signed a contract extension with Manchester United that will keep him at Old Trafford till at least 2021, the club has confirmed.
A statement from the club read: ‘Manchester United is delighted to announce that Marcos Rojo has signed a new contract which will keep him at the club until June 2021, with the option to extend for a further year.’
Speaking about the deal, Marcos Rojo said: “Since I joined Manchester United, it has been everything I thought it would be and more. I am extremely happy to extend my stay at this great club.
“When I joined, my aim was to help the team win trophies and we have done that over the past couple of seasons. I am working hard to get back on the pitch. I would like to thank the fans for their support and the manager for the confidence and help he has given me both on and off the pitch.”
Jose Mourinho added: “Marcos has gone from strength to strength over the past couple of seasons, and has always shown great professionalism.
“Although his injury has kept him sidelined over these past few weeks, Marcos is working hard to return to full fitness. He is always ready to put his body on the line for this club and I am delighted he has signed a new contract.”

The Argentine is approaching the completion of four years at the Theatre Of Dreams, having signed for the club while Louis van Gaal was still the manager.
The 27-year-old has enjoyed relative success with the club so far, having won the FA Cup, the League Cup, the Europa League, and the Community Shield so far.
Earlier last month, it was revealed that the club and Rojo were locked in negotiations over a new contract for quite some time, but nothing had been resolved.

United boss Mourinho was said to be infuriated at the time it was taking to tie the defender down with a new deal, but sources at the club defended themselves. They claimed it was only natural that new contracts for senior players would take longer to negotiate.
However, it now appears as though Mourinho’s words prompted an immediate response, as they have now successfully tied Rojo down to a new contract.
