Top 5 Transfer Stories Of The Day – March 20, 2018
Here is a list of today’s top five transfer stories:
1. Verratti To Barcelona
PSG star Marco Verratti has been regularly linked with Barcelona over the past few months, but this time around, the Italian midfielder seems to have had enough with all such rumours.
Reports had surfaced earlier stating that the 25-year-old’s agent, Mino Raiola, had offered him to the Catalan giants. However, as per Gazzetta dello Sport, Verratti has rubbished these claims by labelling them as a ‘lie’ and clearly stating that he wishes to stay at Parc des Princes.
2. Sessegnon To United
After having a falling-out with Luke Shaw, United gaffer Jose Mourinho has turned his attention towards bringing in a world class player to fill the star-crossed left-back role.
Meanwhile, the Red Devils’ scouts seem to have already done their extensive research, and thus, according to The Sun, have finalized wonder-kid Ryan Sessegnon to be Shaw’s replacement.
However, the 17-year-old won’t come cheap, but that won’t be the main concern for the Special One, who is reportedly planning a mammoth £40 million summer swoop for the Fulham starlet.
3. Salah To Barcelona/Real Madrid
It’s pretty much impossible to not have the two Spanish juggernauts get linked with arguably the best player in the world at present.
Liverpool’s Egyptian king, Mohamed Salah, joined the Reds this campaign, but could very soon bid adieu to Anfield, as The Sun claims that both the La Liga giants have shown interest in acquiring his services.
And if that wasn’t enough, the Merseyside outfit would have to face a world record £200 million fight in order to hold onto the former Roma star.
4. Alderweireld To PSG
One of the hottest transfer targets to have emerged for the upcoming summer transfer window is Tottenham Hotspur defender Toby Alderweireld, primarily because of the Lilywhites’ failure to agree to a new contract.
A host of European clubs, including United, Barcelona, and Chelsea, are already vying for his signature, and now, as per The Telegraph, Paris Saint-Germain have also entered the race to land the Belgian star.
The common point of focus for all the clubs is the £25 million release clause which Spurs would activate by triggering his one-year extension in the summer of 2019, which could help them sell him for anywhere around £40 million at the end of this season.
5. Zaha To Tottenham
In another transfer surrounding Tottenham, Spurs are once again eyeing a move for Crystal Palace ace, Wilfried Zaha. As per Daily Mail, Mauricio Pochettino is keen to bring in Zaha in a transfer that will cost the Lilywhites £40 million.
However, the Eagles have previously rejected two offers by Spurs for their star player, but considering the fact that the former United man is himself looking to leave Selhurst Park, Tottenham could have a realistic chance to sign him if they beat off competition from rivals Chelsea.
