Mourinho Could Sell Spanish Duo As Part Of Old Trafford Clear-Out

Manchester United are toying with the idea of allowing both Ander Herrera and Juan Mata to leave in the summer.
The Spanish superstars are still quality players, and have had moments where they appeared indispensable to the team and its success in whatever competitions they participated in.
However, those days appear to have passed them by, and Jose Mourinho could possibly allow both of them to leave in the summer.
Mourinho is set to go on yet another spending spree in the summer transfer window, and a massive revamp of United’s midfield appears top priority, with Marouane Fellaini and Michael Carrick also set to depart at the end of the season.

According to Marca, the United boss isn’t desperate to sell the pair, but is willing to listen to offers that come in.
While Herrera remains a backup player at the moment, Mata has actually been a key element of United’s season so far. Although he isn’t seen as a crucial starter, a recent stat showed that Mourinho’s men are far more successful on the pitch when Mata starts.

However, the 29-year-old isn’t first choice at the moment, and has to compete with the likes of Anthony Martial, Marcus Rashford, Alexis Sanchez and Jesse Lingard for a place.
According to Mundo Deportivo, Herrera is being eyed by his former club Athletic Bilbao, who still hold him in ‘high regard’ despite his €36 million move to United in 2014.
The Liga Santander side are attempting to spend big themselves and make a number of changes to their squad, and feel their former star would be perfect to ‘lead them forward’.
