Brazilians and Frenchmen have really defined the transfer movement in the past few seasons, with phenomenal players of both sides putting in impeccable performances in the European game.

Powerhouses have caught a whiff of this fact, and now seem to be stopping at nothing to achieve their wishlists. As for Man Utd, they seem all set to bring on a player that has been on and off their radar for quite a while now.

As per Mirror, the Red Devils are ready to purchase Douglas Costa, and are apparently confident of landing the star in the summer window.

The report adds that a bid in the rage of £40 million is in the talking, and that Jose Mourinho has expressly told Ed Woodward about his desire to make the signing.

At 27 years of age, the Brazilian is still a force to be reckoned with, and this is evident in his ongoing loan performance at Juventus from Bayern Munich.

While the Italian club does have the first option of buying the player, it is understood that they will refrain from doing so. This will be a massive boost for Man Utd, and the English giants are confident of sealing the deal.

Interestingly, Costa had been targeted by Sir Alex Ferguson in the past, and a switch was expected to happen initially, but never materialized. Later interest was snubbed by his form at Munich, and only now with the loan move can a realistic chance be salvaged.

While Mourinho did make it clear that he won’t be looking for attacking talents anytime soon after acquiring Alexis Sanchez in the winter, he may have to rethink his options now.

The Chilean’s performances have been way below par so far, and despite his expertise, he has failed to inject in the side the kind of creativity that they desperately require.

As of such, Costa will not only bring an element of versatility to the Mancunian roster, but will also prove to be a reasonably cheap option.
