Samuel Umtiti ‘Confirms’ Huge Manchester United Transfer Rumour
The Samuel Umtiti transfer saga continues to make headlines, as the Barcelona ace has reportedly confirmed that Manchester United ‘want’ him to make a move to Old Trafford this summer.
The 24-year-old has been linked with the Red Devils on a regular basis over the past few months, and as of now, Umtiti himself has broken silence on his possible switch to the Manchester juggernauts at the end of the 2017-18 campaign.
While talking to French TV channel Canal+, the Cameroon-born defender ‘confirmed’ that United, along with ‘other clubs’, want him.
However, the Frenchman did add that his ‘sole focus’ is his current club Barcelona, and that he’s ‘happy’ to be at Camp Nou.

Umtiti said: “It’s not only Manchester United. Other clubs want me as well, but my sole focus is on Barcelona. It was my dream to play at Barça. And I achieved it when I was just 22. I’m very happy here, whenever I play and whenever I train.”

Meanwhile, Jose Mourinho is planning a defensive revamp of his own, with the 24-year-old evidently being a part of it.
Though his side’s defensive record speaks otherwise, as the Old Trafford outfit has just conceded 23 goals in 31 league games – the second best after Man City’s 21 in 31 matches, the Special One may have the European stage in mind, especially after their shock exit to Sevilla in the Round of 16 of the Champions League.

Furthermore, the France international’s affordable release clause of €60 million seems to have lured the Portuguese even more to pursue his signature.
Barcelona haven’t yet tied the former Lyon star to Nou Camp with a new deal, as the defender confirmed that no negotiations for a contract extension have begun yet.
“Negotiations for a contract renewal have not started yet,” Umtiti added. “My release clause is low, but that’s not what I worry about, I focus on the pitch.”
