Man Utd Set To Start Negotiations For £26m Left-Back
Man Utd are set to begin negotiations with Napoli over a potential deal for Faouzi Ghoulam, and have reportedly prepared an opening bid of £26 million.
Jose Mourinho is set to orchestrate a massive overhaul of his defense in the summer, having been massively let down by the options at his disposal.
The likes of Matteo Darmian, Luke Shaw, Phil Jones, Chris Smalling and Daley Blind have all been linked with moves away from Old Trafford, while a number of replacements are set to come in as part of another summer spending spree.
Ghoulam, who has been sidelined since October after suffering a cruciate ligament injury, is one of Napoli’s star men and would definitely not be allowed to leave cheaply.

The defender apparently has a release clause of £52 million, which was inserted into the new contract he signed with the Serie A giants back in December.
Man Utd though, are set to begin negotiations with an opening bid of £26 million, according to RMC.

The news outlet also reports that Mourinho’s men aren’t the only potential English suitors, and many other clubs have shown a genuine interest, although they did not specify who these clubs were.
Ghoulam is one of the highest rated players around Europe right now, and his talent is blatantly obvious to anyone who has seen him play.
The fact that he, a defender, beat Riyad Mahrez, a winger, to the title of Algerian Player of the Year for 2017 despite spending a majority of October, November and December on the sidelines says a lot about the ability he possesses.
Mourinho is eager to see those qualities in motion in his squad and if he does get Ghoulam, it will spell the end of the road for Shaw.
