Jose Mourinho has been on the lookout for a replacement for Michael Carrick, who decided to hang up his boots by the end of the current campaign.

According to recent reports, the Mancunian giants have Toni Kroos under their radar, with the German international now being inclined to join the Old Trafford outfit.

The midfield maestro had snubbed their offer back in 2014 and signed for Real Madrid instead, although the playmaker’s having second thoughts at the moment.

Furthermore, the English club is prepared to rope in the talented figure, hoping to bolster up their squad to ascertain authority over their arch-rivals Man City.

It’s uncertain as to how many midfielders leave the Red Devils at the end of the season, as Carrick doesn’t seem to be the only one.

Numerous reports hinting at Marouane Fellaini’s obligation to find new challenges elsewhere flooded a while back. Plus, having familiarised with the bench a bit too much, Ander Herrera might also pursue a fresh career at another team.

Most importantly, though, owing to the setback in Paul Pogba’s relationship with Jose Mourinho, the Frenchman has been receiving less game time since February. Accordingly, the ex-Juve midfielder is also expected to leave Old Trafford.

However, as per Don Balon, Kroos is well aware of the current situation of the Red giants, and is exhibiting his eagerness to play in the Premier League next season.

But then again, Real Madrid are unlikely to let go of the talisman that easily, primarily because of his efficacy in midfield. But with adequate determination, Mourinho would be able to pull off a stunning move, facilitated by the support Ed Woodward provides.
