Cristiano Ronaldo’s overhead bicycle kick is bound to remain in the memory of supporters for quite a while now.

The splendid effort during the Champions League encounter thoroughly impressed players and fans alike, with supporters in the Juventus stadium rising to their feet to applaud what has to be one of the finest goals they’ve ever witnessed.

Similarly, numerous other attempts at scoring the visually pleasing goal have been doing the rounds. Apart from those of other players failing at achieving the feat, the many attempts of Ronaldo himself trying to make it are bound to inspire a giggle or two.

The Portuguese superstar himself had this to say about it (via Independent): “Obviously people are talking about my second goal… it was a spectacular goal, possibly the best of my career. This was one of the nicest moments.

“To be applauded by the Juventus stadium, where so many great footballers have played, is a top moment for me. It’s something that stays in your heart… I want to thank all the Italians who were here in the stadium and applauded me.”

Unfortunately, not every player that has thought of rising to the occasion and making the picture perfect move has tasted success. And since Ronaldo’s own effort, one such video has gained quite a lot of fame for all the wrong reasons.

It shows Romelu Lukaku attempting an overhead bicycle kick, but unfortunately for the Belgian striker, the only goal he could hit is that of the several laughs the slap to the face must have resulted in via the Internet.

It certainly provided much comic relief to anyone looking for a quick chuckle, and is certainly not the only one in a long and often painful list of attempts at goal gone wrong.

Perhaps one day Lukaku, perhaps one day…
