City And United Fighting For Signature Of Talented Youngster
Matthijs de Ligt has been linked with a switch to the Premier League this summer, amidst interest from some of the biggest clubs in Europe.
The Dutch defender has been the subject of intense interest from Barcelona in recent weeks, as they believe he could be a fantastic investment for the future.
However, according to Spanish media outlet Mundo Deportivo, the club faces an uphill battle to sign him, and will face a lot of competition from several of Europe’s elite clubs.
Bayern Munich are amongst the teams said to be interested in securing his signature, as they have been recommended to sign the player by their former manager, Louis van Gaal.

There is real potential in rumors of a switch to the Premier League, though. The news outlet claims that Manchester United, Manchester City, and Arsenal are all set to compete for his signature, with all three clubs keen on fixing their defence.

Newly crowned champions City have a reasonably good defence, but are looking to solidify it even more, as they prepare to defend their title next season, despite already signing Aymeric Laporte.
Neighbors and second-placed United are sorely lacking quality at the back, and do not have a stable partner for Eric Bailly at the moment, so a move to Old Trafford could be a very real possibility.
However, Jose Mourinho is looking to add experience to his squad – something that De Ligt does not offer at just 18 years of age.
The report also adds that Arsenal are probably the side with the least chance of signing him, due to Arsene Wenger’s current struggles at the club.
