Luke Shaw is reportedly ready to run down his Man United contract and leave the club for free in the summer of 2019.

The defender has been at Old Trafford since 2014, but has endured a nightmare spell at the club.

Having once been tipped to become the best left-back in England and one of the best in the world, Shaw has failed to live up to his billing despite his obvious potential.

This has been down to a number of reasons, with fitness struggles and niggling injuries hampering his time at the club.

Despite his repeated attempts to force his way back into Jose Mourinho’s plans, he has struggled to convince the United boss, who is now on the lookout to sign a new left-back once the summer transfer window opens.

Jose Mourinho is looking to potentially sign the likes of Alex Sandro and Danny Rose as replacements for the ageing Ashley Young, who turns 33 in July.

According to Guardian, however, instead of forcing a move away from the club, Shaw is prepared to give it one last push and stay on for the last year of his contract.

The England international will hope to get more chances to prove himself next season, but the probability of that scenario occurring appears quite low.

Mourinho is also determined to sign a new right-back to provide competition for Antonio Valencia, who also turns 33 this year, with back-up Matteo Darmian seemingly set to leave for Juventus.
