The two greatest managers, Sir Alex Ferguson and Arsene Wenger, may have shared a lot of rivalry during their time in the Premier League and many titles between them.

On Sunday, there was a touch of respect and love shown by the Old Trafford club, being led by Ferguson, to give a warm reception to Arsenal’s outgoing manager.

The Frenchman announced his decision to depart from Arsenal at the end of this season after being in charge for 22 years. And an era has come to an end.

Prior to this, Sir Alex had retired in 2013 after being the manager of United for 26 years. And he showed immense respect to his colleague just ahead of the kick-off on Sunday.

Wenger was treated beautifully, and was given a hero’s welcome as he arrived near the dug-out on the sidelines of the pitch. Fergie was there to greet him, as he embraced Wenger and honoured him with a gift.

Wenger has been a gentleman of the game, and a great individual respected by one and all in the world of football.

What was interesting was Jose Mourinho too hugged Wenger, and as the latter and Ferguson were posing for photographs, the former was called upon by the Arsenal manager and was asked to be present during the ceremony.

While Fergie and Jose have had their shares of feuds with Wenger during their time, both these managers spoke highly of him, and showed them their love and admiration for the three-time Premier League winner.
