How James Rodriguez Reacted After Scoring Against Real Madrid
First it was Mohamed Salah, who scored twice against former club AS Roma last week and showed his class by not celebrating the goals. Now, James Rodriguez has joined the Liverpool star.
The Colombian scored the equaliser for Bayern Munich at the Santiago Bernabeu, and refused to celebrate by joining his hands in front of the Spanish club’s supporters, with not a hint of smile on his face either.
However, Real still progressed to the final for the third successive season, after pipping the German champions 4-3 on aggregate.
But what James did was spectacular. The two-time Champions League winner with Real is on a two-year loan deal at Bayern, which could be made permanent this summer itself. But his performance surely showed the supporters and the manager what a fantastic player he still is.
His muted celebration against his parent club has won the heart of many fans, although few still believe he gifted the game to Real after kicking the ball out of play when Marco Asensio lost possession and fell down with cramp on the pitch by himself.
With Bayern on the attack, and referee not blowing the whistle, James still chose to kick the ball out, which got some supporters disheartened.
Nonetheless, the player became the first Colombian to ever score in a Champions League semi-final.
