Europa League finalists and Spanish league heavyweights Atletico Madrid are reportedly seeking two of Manchester United stars in the form of Anthony Martial and Ander Herrera.

The club is believed to be set to lose talisman Antoine Griezmann to Barcelona, and has thus identified Martial as his replacement.

Martial has found chances hard to come by at United since the arrival of Alexis Sanchez in January. The Frenchman, who is often used as a substitute by manager Jose Mourinho, failed to impress against Brighton last week after getting a rare start.

Mourinho lashed out at the player indirectly alongside Marcus Rashford, telling the media that this is why certain players do not start every game. The Portuguese is reportedly dissatisfied with Martial, and could allow him to leave, if a proper deal comes along the way.

Now, according to Spanish media outlet El Gol, Atletico are wary of Martial’s situation, and are planning on a double raid that also has Ander Herrera on the list.

The duo could be subjected to a bid of £70m from Diego Simeone’s side. Former Monaco man Martial is believed to be around the region of £45m and £50m, and the European powerhouse could go the distance in landing him.

But will United allow Herrera to depart? Jose trusts the Spaniard and considers him as one of the vital members of the team. He is also very much likely to start the FA Cup final against Chelsea on May 19.

With Marouane Fellaini’s future uncertain and Michael Carrick retiring to join the coaching staff, Jose would be wise to keep hold of Herrera. He will be in the market though for another central midfielder.

The Spanish international is valued around the region of £25m, and Atletico want to strengthen their midfield. However, this move still seems unlikely.
