Ander Herrera is being bullish to hold on to his place in Jose Mourinho’s plans for the upcoming season.

The former Athletic Bilbao player has completed four seasons at United, and will be on the final year of his contract. The Spaniard made 38 appearances for the club in the 2017-18 season and scored two goals.

He also featured for the club in the recent FA Cup final against Chelsea, which United eventually lost 1-0.

With the Mancunian club expected to go all out to sign a new midfielder in the summer, Herrera is determined to be at the club, and feels that he won’t be at Manchester only if the management sacks him.

According to a report in The Guardian, when quizzed about his future at the club, Herrera stated that may be the club will go and sign four new midfielders and wouldn’t need him anymore.

“In football, what today is black is white tomorrow. So if you think about what can happen in the summer, maybe the club signs four midfielders and they don’t want me any more,” said the Spaniard.

Herrera added that he wants to be at United next term and add to his appearances for the club. He is determined to give his all in the pre-season.

The Spaniard has featured for the Premier League giants in 160 matches so far, and knows he has to keep fighting to earn game-time and the trust of his manager, Jose Mourinho. That could also see him earn a new deal to keep him at the club in the near future.

United have plenty of options in midfield, with Nemanja Matic, Scott McTominay and Paul Pogba all already there. They are seeking a replacement for Michael Carrick, and are linked with several top players.

The future of Marouane Fellaini is unknown, and if he leaves, the club could end up getting two new midfielders.
