It looks like Manchester United will be going the distance in order to get Real Madrid‘s Gareth Bale as their chief transfer target this summer.
The Welshman is believed to be on the verge of leaving the club after having won a third successive Champions League trophy.
Despite United manager Jose Mourinho stating earlier that the club won’t be entering the race to sign an attacker in the transfer window, the show by their forward line in the closing stages of the season has somewhat paved the way for an imminent arrival of another star player.
Besides Bale, they are also reportedly monitoring Marko Arnautovic. It is believed that United want to be lethal in the forward line and challenge the likes of Liverpool and Manchester City when it comes to getting goals. Also, the prospect of Champions League is another reason.

That’s where a key player like Bale comes into play. And according to a report in Daily Record, their answer could be Bale, as the Mancunian club is preparing a staggering deal that could exceed €100m.

Mourinho wants a three-man attack, with Bale joining Alexis Sanchez and Romelu Lukaku upfront. Bale’s personal wages could also make him one of the highest earners at United.
The report also adds that Real club president Florentino Perez wants to restructure and rejuvenate a squad that has been hugely successful off late.

But now, with Zinedine Zidane having stepped down as the manager, Bale may be tempted to stay back, and will hope to impress his new manager for a regular berth in the starting XI.
The Welshman, who is being targeted by Bayern Munich and Juventus as well, will make a decision on his future post the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia.
