Transfer stories feel like watershed moments in a dam. Nothing but buildup for a long, long time, and all at once with a mighty rush the flow breaks all boundaries.

Stories of confirmations and deals being announced have been plenty over the course of just the past few days. Numerous deals that were hinted at and began linking a relatively short period of days ago are now all set to make big headlines.

Chief amongst these are the transfer interests of Manchester United.

The Red Devils were reportedly targeting several talents, but the ones that came out on top were the potential deals of Fred and Diogo Dalot. With the Fred deal confirmed and officially announced, a similar update awaits their other target.

Trusted journalist Craig Norwood has tweeted the following: “Diogo Dalot to Manchester United is done. The 19-year-old has completed his medical and agreed personal terms. Official club announcement in due course.”

These are massive and quick steps taken by the club to solve the issues that currently face them. It is quite possible that the player may be unveiled soon, but an official statement is imminent.

Further, numerous reports have stated that United will not choose the route of activating the Portuguese right-back’s £17.4 million release clause, as it doesn’t come into being till next month, and would be too complicated of a process.

Rather, the Red Devils are expected to pay a slightly bigger fee, and have the 19-year-old’s signature in the bag well before the World Cup.

It will be interesting to see where Mourinho goes from this transfer. It is certain that areas of trouble are the ones being targeted by the club, and that leaves a signing in the left-back spot to be crucially important as well.

Lastly, while Dalot is expected to be Antonio Valencia’s successor, it will take quite a while before the youngster takes over the Ecuadorian’s spot entirely.
