Manchester United are set to make a bumper bid to land Sevilla youngster this summer.
The Reds fell behind Manchester City in the league last season, and are in desperate need of some quality additions to their squad. Jose Mourinho is looking to improve on particular positions, and has identified his backline as one that needs upgrading.
This has seen United linked with a number of defenders in recent times, but one player they are now close to landing is Clement Lenglet.
A transfer target for Barcelona, Lenglet may no longer be needed at Camp Nou, after French international Samuel Umtiti, who was also a supposed transfer target for United, signed a new long-term deal earlier this week.

And it is now understood that Mourinho has decided to sign Lenglet before the start of next season.
Though he is still linked with a move to Catalonia, the youngster has a release clause of €35m, and French news outlet L’Equipe claims that Manchester United are ready to meet his release clause pretty soon.
Having joined the Spanish outfit for just €5m in the winter transfer window of the previous season, the 22-year-old put on a solid performance in the Champions League, where the Spanish club managed to knock Mourinho’s side out in the Round of 16.
And it is reported that Mourinho was impressed by his performances over the two legs, and is convinced that the centre-back is an upgrade on the current options in the squad.
The Red Devils have also been linked to the likes of Sokratis Papastathopoulos from Borussia Dortmund and Toby Alderweireld from Tottenham Hotspur.
But it is understood that the former is close to joining Arsenal, and that United are yet to open talks with Spurs over a deal for the Belgian international. Therefore, Lenglet currently appears to be the best option for Mourinho.
