Tottenham Want More Than £55m For Toby Alderweireld
Manchester United‘s pursuit for Toby Alderweireld has been stalled due to Tottenham’s high asking price.
Jose Mourinho completed two signing in the space of three days this week. United managed to reach an agreement with Shakhtar Donetsk for Fred, but the official announcement regarding contract and medical is yet to be made.
Diogo Dalot also completed his much-awaited move to Old Trafford from Porto yesterday.
With the World Cup coming up, Mourinho wants to complete a few more signings, as he looks to set plans for next season. The Red Devils boss is now eyeing a move for a central defender.

Toby Alderweireld is reportedly his top target in the position. The Belgium international is one of the best defenders in the Premier League at the moment.
In his four season in England, he has made nearly 150 appearances for Southampton and Tottenham combined. This season wasn’t his best, as the 29-year-old spent more time on the sidelines due to injuries.

But Tottenham’s asking price for the player has remained steep. As per the Evening Standard, Spurs want a fee north of £55m for the Belgian. But officials at United believe that the asking price is outrageous, and are holding out at the moment.
The Reds have an advantage, however, as Spurs are eyeing one of their players. Reports suggest that Tottenham are interested in United outcast, Anthony Martial. The Mancunians could use him as a makeweight in negotiations for Alderweireld.

The North Londoners intend to sell the centre-back this summer itself, as his market price will drop to £25 million next summer, with his contract expiring in 2020.
Manchester United will offer Alderweireld a 5-year contract, with wages that will surpass Tottenham’s last offer of £120,000-a-week, according to the Standard.
It will be interesting to see if United manage to seal the deal before the start of next season.
