How Ronaldo Reacted After Losing A Game Of Table Tennis To Rio Ferdinand
The FIFA World Cup in Russia has got off to a stellar start. There have been highlights to last a lifetime and memories that will live long, and contributing to those memories in a big way is Portuguese star Cristiano Ronaldo.
The forward has been in imperious form owing to his hat-trick against Spain in the first round of matches, which goes to show his true class and sheer will to win at all costs.
But for those who have known the icon in the past, it isn’t something new. Former Manchester United left-back Patrice Evra has revealed in an interview with ITV Sport that Ronaldo has had a winning mentality from the very beginning.
This was evident from an incident that Evra referred to, where Rio Ferdinand and Ronaldo decided to battle it out in a game of table tennis in front of their onlooking peers.

“They were playing table tennis and Rio beat him and we were all screaming and Ronaldo was so upset,” the Frenchman revealed. “Then he sent his cousin to buy a table tennis table. He trained for two weeks at home and he came back and he beat Rio in front of everyone.

“That’s Cristiano Ronaldo. That’s why I am not surprised today that he wants to win another Golden Ball, why he wants to win the World Cup because he’s an angry man.”
Evra’s story really does capture the true essence of Ronaldo as a footballer. Never one to quit, the Real Madrid talisman has made it his life’s goal to break any and all records put in front of him, and in that process, has become one of, if not the best player on earth today.
As for Rio Ferdinand, he probably laments the decision to challenge a man like Ronaldo in the first place.
