Alexis Sanchez wants Romelu Lukaku’s Belgium to win the World Cup this summer.

Some of the top nations failed to qualify for the World Cup in Russia. Chile, Italy, and Netherlands have featured regularly at the tournament, but weren’t good enough during the qualifications.

Most surprising was Chile, who won the Copa America two consecutive times, as they were knocked out of a qualification berth in some fashion.

Manchester United‘s Alexis Sanchez had an amazing tournament the last time around. The Chilean forward scored twice throughout the tournament, which saw them knock out Spain in the group stages. His goal against Brazil in Round of 16 saw the game go down to penalties.

Unfortunately, he was one of the three Chileans to miss their aim, as Brazil beat them 3-2.

Chile were one of the favourites to make it to Russia this summer. But Argentina pulled a comeback on the last day of qualification, knocking out Sanchez and Co. in the process.

What Fans Are Saying About Pogba’s Performance Against Argentina

Alexis Sanchez is enjoying his time, as he takes a break from a hectic football season that saw him make the move to Manchester United in January. Though he didn’t have a good season, the 29-year old has made some strong friendships at Old Trafford.

In an interview with Fox Sports, Sanchez revealed that he wants Belgium to become World Champions this summer. This is due to the fact that he and Romelu Lukaku are good friends. According to him, the striker is in great form and can help his country go all the way in Russia.

“I want Belgium to win the World Cup, for my friend Lukaku,” Sanchez admitted.

What Pogba Said About Messi After Knocking Argentina Out Of The World Cup

“We’re very close friends, we always talk and go out for dinner in England. We have a great friendship. We talk about the team a lot to be able to improve it. He’s sharp, he’s on fire and I hope he wins the Golden Boot.”

Romelu Lukaku has scored 4 goals in two appearances, as he missed the England game due to a slight injury. Harry Kane is leading the Golden Boot race with 5 goals, with Rom and Ronaldo tied on 4 each.

The Belgian International is set to make his return against Japan in the Round of 16 fixture, and could move to the top of the scoring charts with a couple of goals once again.
