Manchester United continue to get linked with a centre-back this summer, and as per reports in Germany, Bayern Munich’s Jerome Boateng is very much on their wishlist.

The Mancunian giants have also been linked with Tottenham’s Toby Alderweireld and Leonardo Bonucci of AC Milan, besides Leicester City’s Harry Maguire.

Jose Mourinho is believed to be intent on strengthening his side at the back, and knows that he will have to cough out a massive sum to get a noted name.

Boating, who is considering his future at Bayern, is also being monitored by French champions Paris Saint-Germain. Therefore, United will need to battle against PSG in order to land the veteran defender.

According to a report in Kicker, United would be open to wrap up a deal for Boateng, who would cost less than either of Maguire or Alderweireld. Talks have broken down with Tottenham Hotspur for Alderweireld, and Maguire would come for at least £65 million.

Boateng has spent seven seasons at Bayern, and has made over 250 appearances for the club, besides winning six Bundesliga titles on top of three German Cups and a Champions League trophy.

The Germany international has been a commanding figure at the Bavarian club, and will add a lot of steel at the back for United.

Recently, Mourinho went on to reveal that he would like at least two more players at the club, and it’s been understood that those include a defender and an attacking player.

United have signed three players this summer, and with less than three weeks remaining for the transfer window to end, the Mancunians will have to act quickly in order to get Boateng.
