Manchester United still have time left in the transfer market. Despite being projected for a squad overhaul this window, so far, their arrivals and exits have been pretty decent.

In Fred and Dalot, crucial spots were covered, and now, a left-back, a centre-back, and an apt right-winger await filling. To add to this drama is the situation surrounding Anthony Martial.

The 22-year-old has left the US pre-season tour due to the birth of his baby girl, and now, multiple reports are suggesting that he has been given the green light to leave Old Trafford.

This will only occur under United’s own terms, however, with a move away from the Premier League and exceeding the £70 million price tag being their intention.

However, before any such departure is sanctioned, United will first seek to sign the Frenchman’s replacement, and he could arrive in the form of a former target. As per a report in the Mirror, Manchester United are actively pursuing Ivan Perisic after his impressive World Cup.

The Croatian forward, who functions for Inter, was on the top of the Red Devils’ wishlist last season, but the Italian side’s final valuation of £40 million was deemed too high back then.

However, this report adds that the Mancunian giants are now willing to splash as much as £60 million to sign the 29-year-old.

This is interesting, as the player’s age does make the supporters question the longevity of United’s recent transfer intentions, with their earlier investments of Sanchez and Matic, while crucial signings, also quite close to the age of 30.

Regardless, it appears that Mourinho is more intent at landing world-class talent who can provide him with effective results this season itself, as the club’s lack of major silverware is starting to look bad for their cabinet in particular, and the Portuguese gaffer’s resume in general.
