Jose Mourinho is adamant on getting a star defender at Manchester United after an overhaul process in the club.

The Red Devils sold Daley Blind to Ajax, and are also planning to part ways with Matteo Darmian. Also, with Premier League side Wolves believed to be interested in Marcos Rojo, Jose could let the injury-prone Argentine leave as well.

The United boss recently stated that he has outlined 5 targets to the club’s hierarchy to strengthen the team’s defence.

With talks stalling over Tottenham Hotspur’s Toby Alderweireld and a huge sum of £65 million asked by Leicester City for Harry Maguire, the Portuguese has turned his attention to a new target.

As per a report in The Sun, the Mancunian club is planning a £35 million move for Barcelona‘s Yerry Mina. The 23-year-old is younger than all the other targets, and could develop into a substantial centre-back under Mourinho.

The report also states that the player is keen to go to the Premier League. Barcelona had signed him earlier this year, but are now open to selling the former Palmeiras defender, who has been replaced by French star Clement Lenglet.

Barca are keen on getting a substantial amount, but since Mina cost £10.5m in January, United will hope to get a deal lower than what the Catalans are asking at the moment.

The Colombian youngster has struggled to get game time at Nou Camp, but showed his potential and prowess in the 2018 FIFA World Cup.

The transfer window will shut in another 10 days’ time. Therefore, Manchester United will hope to do sturdy business before that.
