Manchester United may finally be making serious inquests into signing another defender this summer, thereby strengthening an area that has been identified by manager Jose Mourinho as one that needs attention.
Mina has been linked with several other clubs, with Everton and Lyon emerging as possible suitors.
United had initially made it clear that Mina was a viable alternative, but not their first choice defender to bring in, with Leicester City’s Harry Maguire the one that the Red Devils were really keen on.

But with Leicester playing hard ball, Mina looks like the possible inductee into the fold at Old Trafford, with personal terms practically agreed as well, according to reports.
The 23-year-old may already be on the Barcelona rolls, but has struggled to find a starting place in a team that boasts of Samuel Umtiti and Gerard Pique as the undisputed top two central defenders.
Nonetheless, Mina’s quality was on display during the recently concluded World Cup in Russia, where the Colombian impressed one and all with his ability to score important goals and lead from the front.
Mina is also the closest to what can be called a ‘Jose Mourinho player’. He is well-built and strong, just how Mourinho likes his players to be. The Colombian is brilliant in the air, and will be more than a handful to deal with from corners.
That being said, the next 24 hours look crucial in deciding whether Yerry Mina does actually make his way to Old Trafford, as the Reds look to find some of their lost glory in the form of a stunning campaign from start to finish.
