OFFICIAL: Manchester United Confirm The Departure Of Talented 22-Year-Old Star
Manchester United goalkeeper Joel Pereira has headed out on loan for the 2018-19 season.
The club confirmed that the Portuguese has sealed a temporary switch to Vitoria Setubal in his native land.
The 22-year-old was destined for a loan move, after Jose Mourinho had stated last season that Pereira needs valuable game time given his prowess as a keeper.
Termed to be the next back-up keeper to David De Gea in the near future, Pereira will hope to excel at Vitoria and keep his shape. He was heavily involved throughout the club’s pre-season tour of the United States recently.

United signed veteran keeper Lee Grant this summer to be the third choice behind De Gea and Sergio Romero. With the Argentine still nursing an injury, Grant is expected to be on the bench against Leicester City in their Premier League opener.

Pereira had earlier played for Belenenses in the 2016/17 season, and this shall be his second spell in the Primeira Liga.
The promising youngster has the trust of his manager, who handed him a new contract in 2017. The new deal runs until 2021, with the option of an additional year.
The Portuguese international made one first-team appearance for the Red Devils, as a substitute in the Carabao Cup victory over Burton Albion last season.
