Potential Lineups: Brighton vs Manchester United
Brighton is all set to be the location for Manchester United’s first away game of the season, as the Red Devils hope to make it two wins in a row.
A hopeful side defeated Leicester City on opening night, and Jose Mourinho will be hoping for more of the same going into this encounter. Brighton, on the other hand, will play at the back of a 2-0 loss to Watford on opening day.
Here’s how the lads are apt to lineup for the weekend fixture:
Manchester United
The same list of injuries woe Mourinho, as Romero, Dalot, Valencia, Matic, Herrera, and Rojo continue to recover. Ashley Young could start, although as an unconventional right-back instead of Darmian, largely owing to Luke Shaw’s antics at Old Trafford.
Fellaini is another name that could make an appearance, but it seems likely that Mourinho may start Periera as an experiment for the time being.
However, Lukaku may very well taste his way back into the helm of United’s attack, with Jesse Lingard also looking apt to start ahead of Mata. Then again, Mourinho may stick with the Spaniard owing to Brighton being the opponents.
Martial will most probably have to be content with a bench spot along with Rashford.
GK: De Gea
Defenders: Young, Bailly, Lindelof, Shaw
Midfielders: Fred, Pereira, Pogba
Forwards: Lingard, Lukaku, Sanchez
Formation: 4-3-3
Brighton
Chris Hughton may be without Saltor, Andone, Steele, Towell, Izquierdo, and Ahannach for the home game. Regardless, a strong set of arrivals will be looking to salvage something from the United team and reel back from their opening day defeat.
The Seagulls will largely have to hope that the kind of magic that occurred in May against the Red Devils, when a 1-0 victory kept their Premier League dream afloat, makes a comeback.
GK: Ryan
Defenders: Bong, Duffy, Dunk, Bernardo
Midfielders: Knockaert, Stephens, Propper, March
Forwards: Gross, Murray
Formation: 4-4-1-1
