Gary Neville has blasted Eric Bailly for his horror show in defence, as Manchester United were handed a humiliating 3-2 defeat by Brighton.

Jose Mourinho was eyeing an easy win as his side made the trip to Brighton. But the home side were off to an excellent start, as Glenn Murray opened the scoring in the 25th minute.

In no time, Shane Duffy added to Manchester United‘s woes, as he managed to turn the ball past De Gea, doubling Brighton’s lead.

Romelu Lukaku pulled one back for the Red Devils, but Eric Bailly’s clumsy challenge in the penalty box allowed Pascal Gross to restore Brighton’s two-goal lead.

Manchester United legend Gary Neville couldn’t hold back his frustration, and slammed the Ivory Coast international. During the half-time show on Sky Sports, the decorated full-back singled Bailly out, and pointed out all the mistakes made by the defender in the first half.

“It’s really poor from Bailly, it’s so poor. Jose will hate what he’s seeing. All of them [the defenders] dive in, every single one of them. He will be absolutely fuming,” said Neville.

“You have to hang in there when you’re not playing well. The mistakes at the back. There’s no need to tackle, you’ve got to keep your composure. He’s complaining, winging, moping around.”

Bailly failed to improve on his performance in the second half. It seemed like he was playing on ice, and was found lunging into a tackle on numerous occasions.

A penny for the thoughts of Jose Mourinho, who was insistent that United needed to bring in a centre-back over the summer – which Ed Woodward failed to do.
