If football aficionados were perhaps wondering whether or not the season had truly begun and gotten underway, the UEFA Champions League draw will have currently removed those doubts.

The prestigious European title pins football’s finest from across the continent in a grand spectacle relished across the globe. This season’s edition got underway on Thursday. Let us have a look at the biggest draws and clashes that will grace us when the group stages commence.

One fixture that is bound to catch the eye is Manchester United vs Juventus in Group H, which will ensure that Cristiano Ronaldo will be up against his former club once more, and that Old Trafford will welcome their favored Red Devil as well as Pogba returning to Juventus.

The difficulty of this group for Jose Mourinho, in addition to his current woes, is immense, as they’ll also face Valencia and BSC Young Boys in the same group, with the Swiss side the sole place of respite.

Tottenham have also been given a relatively tough group this season as well, as they’ve drawn Barcelona, PSV and Inter Milan in Group B. Mauricio Pochettino will be praying for some of last season’s heroics yet again.

Further, it seems like a tough draw for English sides all around, as Liverpool’s Group C has both Napoli and PSG, with Red Star Belgrade completing it. This is certainly the group to keep an eye on.

Reigning champions Real Madrid may have a mixed approach, as they face Roma, CSKA Moscow and Viktoria Plzeň in their bid to carry the streak forward, and will still be the favorites.

Manchester City’s group has Shakhtar Donetsk, Lyon, and Hoffenheim, and the Cityzens will certainly be fancying their chances ahead of the other Premier League teams.

Of all the giants, it seems Bayern Munich have been gifted the best group. This leaves Group A to be the lot which will guarantee entertainment, as Monaco, Atletico Madrid, Borussia Dortmund and Club Brugge all being pitched against one another.

Who will emerge victorious this campaign, and will this draw be dwarfed in excitement by the rounds to follow in the months to come?
