Douglas Costa could soon find himself in a tussle between two huge clubs in the transfer window in January, or even in the summer of 2019.

The former Bayern Munich player has been impressive under Massimiliano Allegri at Juventus. Costa is a crucial member of the club’s attacking force, and has linked well with Cristiano Ronaldo, who arrived in the summer from Real Madrid.

Costa’s pace, vision, and ability to create spaces make him a strong winger who can light up any side in the world. And that, in turn, has led to Manchester clubs United and City keeping tabs on him.

So much so, that a report in SportMediaset has stated that the two English clubs could go in for a battle in the race to sign Costa.

The player was earlier linked to both the teams. To add to that, another exclusive report, this time by Calciomercato.com back in May 2018, had revealed that City manager Pep Guardiola was so keen on the player that the management offered €80m for the Brazilian.

Juventus are well aware of the value of Costa, and they were never in the mood to sell one of their prized asset.

But things could change soon, with Juve wanting United midfielder Paul Pogba back at Turin. The Frenchman spent 4 years at the Old Lady before leaving for Manchester.

There now exist two possibilities. Juve and United could either swap Costa and Pogba, or the Italians could simply sell Costa to City, and use the funds to aid their pursuit of Pogba.

However, both these scenarios appear unlikely at the moment. United will try their best to hold onto their midfield talisman, whereas City already boast of plenty attacking options, having recently bought Riyad Mahrez from Leicester City.
