Former England manager Fabio Capello has gone to reveal the two players Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho wanted to sign in the summer.

It was a poor transfer window for the Old Trafford unit, after they got only Fred, third-choice goalkeeper Lee Grant, and young right-back Diogo Dalot. The manager was keen to get at least two more signings, but it didn’t turn out to be so.

The priority for Jose was signing defenders, and a host of names were linked with the Reds, including Harry Maguire, Toby Alderweireld, and Jerome Boateng.

But Capello’s revelations show that these were the players that were down the pecking order, as Jose had identified two other defenders who were at the top of his list.

As per Goal, the former Russia manager stated that the two players Mourinho was really keen on were Inter’s Milan Skriniar and Napoli’s Kalidou Koulibaly.

Reports have now stated that the Red Devils will go for Skriniar once again in the January transfer window. But the Slovakia international has attracted interest from Manchester City and Barcelona as well.

He is currently in the third year of his career in Italy, and the second at Inter. The Champions League outfit will not be keen to lose a star member at a crucial phase, but United are expected to go all out with a big money move.

United have got off to a horrible start to the season, and have shipped in plenty of goals to suggest that Jose needs reinforcements. Also, there could be a couple of defenders, viz. Matteo Darmian and Marcos Rojo, who could be heading out.
