Manchester United are considering allowing midfielder Scott McTominay to leave on loan during the upcoming January transfer window.

The 21-year-old has struggled in the few opportunities that have come his way so far this season. He was tried in defence, but the move didn’t work as well.

As per reports, Jose Mourinho, who regards the player highly, now wants him to gain valuable experience elsewhere. The midfielder might not get many opportunities in Manchester at the moment because of a host of options available to Mourinho.

United weren’t convinced to loan him in the summer of 2018, and backed him to stay back despite interest from Championship sides Leeds and Aston Villa.

But now, Mourinho is thinking of seeing the player get game-time somewhere else.

According to The Sun, an Old Trafford source said: “Scott is wanted by a number of clubs and there are offers on the table already. The club are not totally against the idea of him going. There was a lot of interest in him in the summer.”

United have started the season poorly, and McTominay, who featured against West Ham earlier, was removed against Newcastle post half-time.

It is vital that the Scotsman gets some experience of games under his belt and settles down well with time to handle the pressure in the Premier League.
