One player really impressed for Manchester United against Juventus in the Champions League last night, and to everyone’s surprise, it was Swedish defender Victor Lindelof.
Since last season, many United fans have criticised the centre-back for being inconsistent and giving away possession. But his performance last night has earned him a lot of praise from the manager and fans alike.
The 24-year-old has been in and out of the side since his move from Benfica last season, but lately, he has become a crux of the side, especially in the last few matches.
Lindelof was also solid against Chelsea over the weekend, and saw the threat of Eden Hazard. On Tuesday night, he also stood tall against a fancied Juve side.
Speaking about Lindelof post-match, Mourinho stated: “The way I say amazing Chiellini and amazing Bonucci, I have to say Chris and Victor had a very positive game.
“This is the first time Victor plays a game of this dimension, Victor had a positive game.”
It will be interesting to see whether the Swedish international manages to hold on to this performance, and nails his place in the side for the long run.
Here is how the fans on Twitter rated the player’s display:
Disappointing overall but I thought Lindelof was excellent..

Credit to Victor Lindelof, our best outfield player tonight, he has been reading the danger every single time and has stopped many attacks.
