Mourinho Provides Update On Romelu Lukaku Ahead Of Manchester Derby
Jose Mourinho has provided an update on the fitness levels of Romelu Lukaku.
The Belgian international was benched by the manager for Manchester United‘s home encounter with Everton, but post that league fixture, the striker has remained sidelined due to a hamstring injury he picked up in training.
Lukaku has since missed the Red Devils’ trips to Bournemouth as well as Juventus, both of which resulted in the Mancunian giants playing attractive football and coming out on top with 2-1 wins.
Now, with United preparing for yet another trip, this time to their local rivals Manchester City, Jose Mourinho has revealed whether or not Lukaku will be in contention for team selection.

“Lukaku is training with the team this morning,” the Portuguese tactician confirmed during his pre-match press conference.
“If this answer is positive, and we have of course one more session [on Saturday], if the answer is positive he is ready. But all I can say now is he trains with the team. I don’t know his answer.”

This news hasn’t been received too kindly by the Manchester United fanbase, however, not only due to the 25-year-old consistently firing blanks in front of goal, but also because the team has been playing much better in his absence.
The supporters let their feelings know on social networking website Twitter, forming a general consensus to Jose’s latest update.
Don’t play Lukaku

Maybe we should try to place him on RW as a substitute, literally our best crosser and his speed is no joke. He offers close to nothing as a number 9 before his injury

I hope he doesn’t start, the team plays better without him leave him and Fellaini on the bench

@RomeluLukaku9 in big matches is a big NO NO!!!!!! Usually there are defensive midfielders to break down plays. But to make their life easy, we have @RomeluLukaku9.

He shouldn’t play he will destroy the rhythm that we have now

Hope he doesn’t start Lukaku in all important game, he is out of form & bit rusty.
It will take time for him to be match sharp & he doesn’t score against top six sides! #MUFC— $ameer (@MrSameer_) November 9, 2018
Advantage, ManCity

Lukaku is a good striker who just needs some time out. Mourinho’s former approach just didn’t suit his style of play. Plus he’s had a busy summer. Rest him for Sunday’s game though.
