Alexis Sanchez was expected to light up proceedings and bring forward his ‘A’ game at Manchester United. But ten months into his stay at the club, and he has merely been a poor shadow of himself.
The 29-year-old winger hasn’t been anywhere near to what one would have liked, having also suffered from inconsistent form and injuries.
Recently, he was given the striker’s role for a couple of games, with Romelu Lukaku forced out through injury. But with the Belgian primed for a return, coupled with Anthony Martial’s superb form on the left, Sanchez may yet again find himself on the bench.
Earlier, reports stated that Sanchez is open to the idea of leaving United, who are also open to the idea of letting him go, given his disappointing spell so far. Also, the fact that he is the highest earner at the club could tempt the Red Devils to get rid of his name from the record books.
According to an exclusive in the The Times, journalist Paul Hirst has revealed the big reason behind what has gone wrong with the former Arsenal man.
Hirst tweeted: “Sanchez doesn’t get on with his team-mates, has been badly affected by a break-up, and doesn’t like Mourinho’s management style. Alexis Sánchez wants to leave Manchester United for PSG.”
Several sources had previously claimed that Paris Saint-Germain have been open to the idea of getting the Chilean for a cut-price deal. United, on the other hand, will not stand in between an unhappy player.
Sanchez has scored just 4 times in 28 matches for the Mancunian giants since his move, and as far as his future is panning out, it looks pretty unlikely for him to stay put at Old Trafford.
