Manchester United had endured a difficult summer transfer window, wherein they failed to get the desired players. Jose Mourinho did manage to get a midfielder and a right-back, but his wish to sign a central defenders never materialised.

Now, there is only a month left for the January transfer window, and the club badly needs to shape up the defence.

United languish in the Premier League table, and a top four finish would need a miracle from here on. They had the second meanest defence last season, but this term, they have only managed 2 clean sheets so far, which aptly highlights the issues.

And one would expect Jose to get some signings in January, but the Old Trafford boss didn’t seem much excited regarding the prospect of getting new faces at the club.

The boss was concerned that the club will not sign a single player in January, despite him desperately wanting a new centre-back. The Portuguese was hugely frustrated in the summer, as the club’s hierarchy did not manage to deliver him enough new talent.

The former Real Madrid and Chelsea boss has made a worrying prediction over how many new faces will arrive at the club.

“Honestly, I don’t think we are going to sign (anyone). If we do, I would say one player. I don’t see us going more than that,” said Jose, when asked about the same.

United face a tricky test in the coming days. They take on Southampton, followed by a home match against Arsenal. Then there is the Champions League tie against Valencia. The Red Devils shall also encounter Liverpool and Fulham before the hectic festive season.
