5 Players That Solskjaer Could Sign In The Winter Window

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s reign begins at Manchester United and despite being a caretaker manager, the Norwegian has reportedly been handed a decently sized transfer budget.

Let us have a look at some of the players that he could look into purchasing in the winter window:

1. Kalidou Koulibaly

Jose Mourinho was reportedly eager to buy the Napoli defender regardless. His brilliance certainly matches the club’s most desperate need and as of such he’s an ideal signing irrespective of who is in charge.

2. Toby Alderweireld

A player who is a proven talent in the Premier League and could be available at a bargain price. Here the irresistible connection is that the Belgian could be reunited with Mauricio Pochettino in the summer if United sign the gaffer as well.

3. Douglas Costa

Suffering immensely for game time after the arrival of Cristiano Ronaldo, the Brazilian is an ideal target for United.

Besides, Solskjaer has allegedly identified the right midfield spot as one where reinforcements are required and the departure of Mourinho rules out the possibility of Willian arriving.

4. Isco

Under Solskjaer, United are likely going to switch to a 4-2-3-1 formation. In this, if Sanchez and Mata don’t work out for the no.10 spot, a true player will have to be signed and the Spaniard certainly fits the bill.

Here too, the Pochettino factor could exist due to their shared past at Malaga.

5. Edinson Cavani

Given how Solskjaer was with Molde, Romelu Lukaku is certainly not the sort of striker that will flourish under his system.

As of such, Cavani is the typical attacking option that the English side have been linked with since his playing days at Napoli. His age may mean that a bargain price could be struck for him as well.

Will the Uruguayan be the first example of winter transfers not affecting the players available for the starting lineup when United and PSG clash next?
