Wayne Rooney’s Brilliant Reaction When Asked About Liverpool’s Title-Winning Chances

We are almost at the halfway mark of the 2018-19 Premier League season, with Liverpool currently dominating the top flight of English football.

Jurgen Klopp’s men sit atop the table with 48 points, 4 points clear of the reigning champions Manchester City, who trail in the second position.

Historically, a side that has led the standings at Christmas has gone on to win the league on all but two occasions – with Liverpool being the exception both times.

It remains to be seen whether the Merseysiders break that trend this time around, though their current squad certainly looks capable of going all the way.

During his recent cameo as a pundit on BT Sport, Manchester United legend Wayne Rooney was asked about Liverpool’s chances of finally winning their first ever Premier League title this season.

The Englishman is no stranger to winning the league himself, having bagged 5 titles during his glorious stint at Old Trafford, along with a bunch of other trophies.

When speaking about this year’s title race on Premier League Tonight, Rooney opined: “I think they (Liverpool and Manchester City) are the two teams, as hard as it is to say, who people enjoy watching.

“I still think City will win it (the Premier League). Over the last ten years, only two teams who’ve been top (at Christmas) have not won the league and both of them was Liverpool, so… hopefully that’s the story again.”

Spoken like a true Evertonian. Do you agree with the man?
