Manchester United Ready To Sign £52m-Rated Dutch International
Manchester United are in search of a defender in this month’s transfer window. The Old Trafford club had failed to sign a notable name in the summer, and chief Ed Woodward is ready to splash the cash.
There are several defensive options that have been linked to the club, and one player that the Mancunians are really said to be interested in signing is Ajax prodigy Matthijs de Ligt.
Reports have stated that the Reds are keen to land the player, and are ready to break their club transfer record for a defender to finalise this deal.
United had previously broken this record in 2017, when they roped in a 22-year-old Victor Lindelof from Benfica. The Premier League outfit spent a mammoth £30.8m for the Swedish international, who went on to sign a four-year contract.

But with De Ligt, the fee could go even higher. Reports indicate that the United board is willing to pay around £52m for the Dutchman.
Manchester United know that landing a quality defender could cost them fortunes, and they have made their peace with it. The other reason for investing huge money for the player is because of his potential.

De Ligt is seen as someone for the future, despite the starlet having already established himself as a quality central defender. But that very fact has led sources to claim that Spanish club Barcelona could be in pole position to secure the player’s signature.
United have also lodged their interest in Napoli’s Kalidou Koulibaly, who could become the costliest player in their history, with a fee of £90m predicted for the African.
