Diego Godin is on the verge of parting ways with Atletico Madrid.

During the nine years he has spent in the Spanish capital, Diego Godin has managed to establish himself as one of the best centre-backs in Europe.

His displays have time and again caught the attention of several powerhouses from across the continent, with the likes of Juventus and Manchester United coming very close to signing him last summer.

In fact, the Red Devils had gone as far as to arrange a private jet to finalise a deal, only for the Uruguayan to decide not to make the switch at the last moment due to personal reasons.

But now, the defender could finally be set to leave Atletico Madrid at the end of the ongoing campaign, and that too as a free agent.

According to Sky Sports Italia, Godin will join Inter come summer, having already agreed a two-year deal with the Serie A giants, with an option to extend by an additional year.

Los Rojiblancos’ boss Diego Simeone hinted at Godin’s potential departure in his recent press conference, as he admitted: “We are looking for the best solution for all the parties involved.

“We are working for the good of both parts, both the player and the club know what I think, we will choose the most convenient option.”
